DOPE VIBES: THE EXPOSURE SERIES, When Photography Meets Upcycling
--- The June Exposure Series at Recycled Modern is a collaboration from design curator and owner, Shari Currie and guest photographer, Micaeh Johnson---
(Chicago, IL) On June 28th, 2019 from 6pm – 8pm at Recycled Modern LLC, located at 1152 West Diversey Parkway, design curator, Shari Currie of Recycled Modern and photographer, Micaeh Johnson will collaborate during Recycled Modern's monthly shopping experience, Dope Vibes: The Exposure Series. Together, this creative pair will explore unconventional ways to display the conventional subjects of Johnson’s photography with rare scrap piece finds from Currie including frames, mirrors and other ingenious gems.
Dope Vibes is a monthly shopping experience at Recycled Modern, where owner Currie collaborates with like-minded budding and/or renowned creatives. The idea is to capture and connect with those who are looking to explore urban vintage finds and captivating experiences. The Exposure Series is created and produced by Shari Currie and features, Micaeh Johnson. Both self-taught creatives, they collectively thread the voice of Chicago through their work, where they both reside.
Attendees can expect to see a photo narrative from Johnson that explores the similarities of how Cuba, Chicago and other urban cities like Memphis have been visually impacted by extreme social issues like communism, violence and police brutality yet how the subjects featured rise beautifully through Johnson’s lens and in real life. This narrative will be set alongside Currie’s complementing visual lens of rare material finds where she brings them back to life, to live in commercial and residential spaces across the city. Johnson’s narrative has the work and voice of creative partner, David McDuffie, sprinkled throughout as well.
On June 28th, plan to immerse yourself in an experience complete with chill vibes, music, art, bubbles, and shopping by following this link to RSVP.
